"The Illustrated Band" is the second album from Vida Blue featuring keyboardist Page McConnell, Oteil Burbridge (Allman Brothers Band, Aquarium Rescue Unit) on bass and drummer Russell Batiste (The Meters). Recorded at Inner Ear Studios (owned by the Bee Gees) in Florida, each track on the album also features the local flavor of Miami with the introduction of DJ Le Spam and the Spam Allstars. The improvisational fusion of Vida Blue's atmospheric jazz, with the Spam Allstars's blend of electronic elements and turntables creates a sound that is unique. In 2004 the two bands also toured together nationally as a 10-piece ensemble.
