FALL breaks into Spring  (6/3/2012 5:42:39 AM)

One fine show no doubt. Although I'd rather have Auburn Hills 12/6/97 or Cleveland 12/5/97. Please release those someday. Pretty please.........

Of all the Phish shows I've seen, this stands at the very top. Just an outstanding show from start to finish. We'd driven to Dayton that night from Champaign, IL.

Highlights were the Psycho Killer, Tube and subsequent jam, Slave, Boogie On, and the best Guyute I've ever seen.

   Fall 1997 = Best tour EVER!!!  (12/7/2011 11:48:04 AM)

So now that the Hampton/W-S shows have been released along with this gem, can we just be honest with ourselves? Fall 1997 was the best tour Phish EVER did.......Salt Lake, Denver(this night), Champaign, Hampton (both nights), W-S, Hartford, Cleveland, Auburn Hills, Dayton, Albany (both nights). WOW These are all-time classics. For me Champaign, Hampton (night 2) and Dayton take the cake. Not to bash the current offerings from Phish (2009-2011 are cookie cutter tours) but this is what true fans want to see and hear.

For me, I've listed the 5 best jams of this tour:

1. Haley's-Hampton
2. Tweezer-Auburn Hills
3. 2001>Wofman's-Champaign
4. Gin-Winston-Salem
5. Tube>Jam-Dayton

LivePhish -Thanks for following up on the requests on this site.

I'm pretty sure that tweezer from hampton 97 is longer than 6 minutes, I just listened to it and it was 11 minutes

I was at this show and the energy that AC/DC bag generated before the nug for the ear phycho killer was out of this world and the transition was flawless, smooth, and perfect. Now when I re-live the show, I hear Mike start phycho killer in the midths of a deep intricate voyage of the mind and body i get chills still. To back that up with my minds>Its ice>Sweep away>steep>its ice>theme, that was a beautiful piece of art.The second set didnt go unnoticed with a boogie on raggae woman which i love not played since the fall of 1988. The beatles encores always come at perfect times, to calm us down and send us back into a world of pretend, meaning for most of us we have to pretend we are something we are not so we can be accepted to earn money, to have a home, to get food, all because they dont understand us so we are force to act like them to get survival essientials. Those 2 and a half hours or so is when you can meet the real me. Dayton was also the site for another memorable moment for me back in 1995. The guys busted out a phat tweezer and it was cold and snowing outside. There was a pile of cloths in the isle where i was 6 feet tall where everyone had stripped down to shorts and a tee to get down including my group(side note we didnt come out with the same cloths we went in with as did a lot of people). The hall spinners and im guessing other hall wondering brothers and sisters had the idea to open the outside doors to let in the cold air and the lights turned this deep blue all the while tweezer was getting hot the nutter center is a circle with doors all the way around the building side by side by side to my knowledge they go all the way around. So we got this burst of cold air when the doors began to be opened and created a free flow of cold wind that blew thru us and the venue being all sweaty in shorts and a tee shirt that i will never forget how it added to the experiece of that song, with the deep blue lights the cold wind all the while stepping in to the freezer with phish it was beautiful.
