12/7/97 is certainly one of the top shows of the modern Phish era. This is a rare instance where the first set is actually superior to the second, and the second set was pretty amazing on this night. From the genius "AC/DC Bag>Psycho Killer" opening duo all the way through the thrilling "Theme From The Bottom, Tube>Jam>Slave To The Traffic Light" closing sequence, the first set is perfectly crafted. In the second set, the first "Boogie On Reggae Woman" since 1988 is fun, but understandably a little sloppy. Great "Reba" as well. And to think, this show came the night after another all-time classic, 12/6/97 in Auburn Hills, MI. This show is definitely worth hearing as it represents everything great about Phish`s funky and energetic sound of 1997.

The best show I saw in 1997! So excited that there are SBDs available! The Pyscho Killa is a big highlight and the whole second set was freakin` amazing. As we are sitting waiting for the encore, my buddy Jim says "Day in the Life, the date Lennon was shot is tomorrow." Then the first few chords played; it was the best. We actually ran straight out of the venue as fast as possible & jumped in the car, cause we had finals the next day, over 500 miles away. Thank you phish.

The thing that I love about this show is that it is a conversation piece. It has, for better or worse, become one of the legendary shows of the great `97 run. If you are searching for technicality at its finest, this may not be the place to look. But ask anyone who was there--there was just something about that night that was exceptional. The energy was extremely high. The old covers were played for the first time in forever. The Tube was, in many people`s opinion, one of Phish`s finest live moments; I`ve simply never heard anything like it before or since. The energy of the second set was amazing--the Reba was great, Guyute was great, Possum was crazy.

I can sum it up in one sentence--I`ve seen better shows than this, but of all the shows I`ve been to, I never, ever had so much fun. OHIO LOVES PHISH! We hope it`s reciprocated. We`ll see y`all in Cincy.
