I'll be honest. IMO this is one of the most overrated shows in the bands history. I prefer 11/13, 11/14, 11/17, 11/19, 11/21, 11/22, 11/23, 11/26, 11/28, 11/29, 11/30, 12/02, 12/03, 12/06, 12/11, 12/12, & 12/13 more than this one. I guess that's the whole tour minus Penn St., Denver I & Cleveland. And PSU Simple is better than anything here. This show to me just shows what this tour was like... I like 17 shows from this tour better than it and it's still the SHIT!!! This show is about the seamless transitions, relatively rare songs, Psycho Killer & Tube. The grooves in PK & Tube are incredible. My gripe is there aren't any spectacular long jams to sink your teeth into like every other show of this tour. But that's ok. WE NEED MORE FALL '97. First we need some '99.... 12/11/1999 needs to be released more than any other show in my opinion based on what's already been released, quality of available AUD recordings, & quality of the show, followed by 11/22/1997 & 11/02/1998. I'd like to see MPP 2000, Hampton '99 II, Utah '98, some summer '98, Auburn Hills '97, & Philly '97 II released as well. These are really just among the best ever. But anyway, this show is at the bottom of this tour, but compared to the rest of Phish, this is 99th percentile shit here.

This show is obviously legend, for the setlist alone if nothing else. But I truly believe this show is over-rated. It's got the bustouts, I know. :) But I have this whole tour on AUDs and there are several Phall 97s more deserving of release, namely:

11-19, 11-21, 11-22 All better than Dayton, regardless of list, these shows are the hose.

11-28, 11-29, 11-30 Worcester....all 3 are better than 12-7 for varying reasons IMHO. Oh yeah, the HOUR LONG Jim, that was it, lolz, and maybe best wolfman EVER on the 30th

12-6 I'll take just the Tweezer (best of tour?) from this show over the entirety of Dayton.

12-12 & 12-13 Again, better shows overall, ESPECIALLY 12-13 II which is just ridiculous awesome. :)

Just an opinion. Either way you cut it, whether Dayton is over-rated or not, we want more PHALL 97!

BRING THE COWFUNK!

I was just getting into Phish around this time. This show is why I am a Phan Phorever!!!
This show was my first show I had "Ever" seen. I had heard the studio albums and was
kinda digging them, and really did not know what to think at first. My friend had a extra
ticket and said if I wanted to go I could so I said sure. I bought this album when Phish
released and my god, every time I listen to it my hairs on my arms stand on end.
Great show hands down. Definitely purchase this one. You will not regret it.

My favorite show. The guys were all on the same page that night. The first set is good, but I can't say it's better than the second set. It all depends on what mood you're in. If you're ready to jam then the first set is for you, but I prefer the second set. Wolfman's all the way through Guyute is excellent. The Reba is my favorite of all time. The mellow jam in Reba takes me to a special place every time. The transition of Wolfman's>Boogie on is one of my top two with the Bowie>Possum at MSG 97 being the other. This show is awesome, and no Phish Phan's show list is complete until they have this show.

Hands down the best show opener I've ever seen. The AC/DC Bag>Psycho Killer is SICK!The band was flawless!! Mike's bass was THUMPING that night. Of the '97 funk shows, this one was my favorite. Wolfman's>Boogie On was PURE FUNK! YOU MUST ADD THIS SHOW TO YOUR COLLECTION! The sound is amazing!

This is one of the rare times when i would say that the first set is better than the second! The highlights are ACDC Bag > Psycho Killer > Jesus, Theme from The Bottom, Dayton Jam > Slave, and Possum. I`d say a pretty above average show.
