the albany show was absolutely the best show of the 4. we all knew it would be before we even got in, sipping brews and indulging in the headiness of the scene around us. Albany is very cool town, the arena is right in the center of it, and the snow that was falling from the sky was a pre-show treat (much better than the rain at nassau). there was deffinately something in the air that screamed "this is gonna be fuckin rockin!" people seemed to forget that this is PHISH we are dealing with here! i saw people giving up 2 or 3 seats to that nights show for only 1 ticket to the fallowing night in boston. while this was somewhat understandable, due to the signifcance of the boston show, and near impossible task of actually acquiring tickets to it in any of the lots the first 3 nights, to many of us, it didnt make sense. We were there, in the snow, on the doorstep of one of the most legendary venues there is, and people didnt want to go in!! are you nuts!! anyway, as for those of us who did go in, it was fucking amazing. Ive heard a lot of bashing of this show, mainly by people who werent there. that is bullshit. While im aware that holdsworth was not particularly "up to par" i think people need to relize the significance of what happened. plus not to mention the absolutely amazing first set, highlighted by a perfect guyute and probably the best wolfmans jam ive ever heard. and of course the beginning of the 2nd set, with that good old awesome outerspace tango between the 4 dudes during the tweezer>2001 YEM that reminds us why we all go out in the first place. But what really puts this show over the top was the monumental energy. the knick was practically jumping off the ground! from the very first sounds of chalkdust the crowd roared and never reccessed. every change, every vocal, every solo: absolute insanity. the funkyest and most electric show since hyatus. those who experienced both know that albany went far beyond what boston could even dream of being. can`t wait for next time! Ps -> before the show there was wind of a Forbin rumor going around for that night. it didnt happen then, nor boston. i know fluffhead is the big MIA of current times, but whatever happened to the Colonel?

I have read about Jeff Holdsworth and how he left the bank way early on, but i really didnt know what to expect from him playing with the band 15 or so years later. Being that i was not at this is show i am reviewing it from a downloaders point of view. The first set had alot of enery, and just about any show you open with Chalkdust will. The stash has a nice more laid back jam to it, but the definitaly got the crow goin to start off with. As always the guyute is great to hear. And to close the set i do not know what has been up with wolfmans brother lately but they have been tearin the shit out of it. I t takes trey a little while to really get into it, but in reality thats what makes it better. And to close, one of thier favorites to play Good Times, Bad Times, and is till dont know how trey palys that first solo. tweezer>2001>yem was completely amazing they did not hold back at all. I read a review of some guy saying that yem was the best ever( i dont think he listens to phish much) but nevertheless it was a very good yem. Trey then announces Holdsworth out, and i do know iw as not there, but he does not osund very good on vocals for one thing. Secondly, they couldnt really jam with him. The antelope (on of my personal favorites) had almost no intensity. However, i still think i was great he got a chance to play with them and I respect him for contributing camelwalk and possum. I do recommend you to downlod this show because it will proably never happen again, and also because of the song before Holdsworth.

this was only my second show, but i`d been listening to shows for a couple years. this was the best show i`ve ever heard. my first show (7/30/03) had the best yem i`d ever heard, at the time. but this one topped it. although, the vocal jam could have been a little better. but honestly, tweezer>2001>yem is the greatest possible experience. i couldn`t have dreamed of something better. trey was absolutely on fire the entire show. jeff wasn`t so great, but just being able to see him was cool enough. stash usually isn`t one of my favorite tunes, but this one was great. and the wolfman`s was definitely the best i`ve ever heard. guyute completely blew me away. and antelope was an incredibly nice treat. and fire was definitely rockin`. greatest show ever. kill someone if you have to, to get this show.

Get this show for a few reasons. An absolutely rocking Thunderhead, Page pouring his heart out in GTBT, Mike`s solo during YEM, and the fact that the funk is back and here to stay.

I am reviewing this show as a downloader, not an attendee of the concert (I went to the Fleet Center show). Fairly straightforward first set, nice songlist. Average, fun, 2003 Chalkdust, decent Stash. Guyute without a doubt the highlight of the first set. All parts of the song were strong, perfect length, perfected climaxes. Best version I`ve ever heard. Thunderhead - average and nice, Sparkle - decent, Wolfman`s fun, minimal mistakes. GTBT was good as well.
The second set was very poor compared to what I have heard this year. I have IT, the summer Verizon Wireless Music Center trio, the 7/9 show and the 7/29 show - also Fleet Center. Very strong setlist for the second set yet the playing and vocals were extremely weak. Tweezer: weak guitar. 2001 was average, except the first half was boring, no tune, just funky jamming that puts you to sleep. YEM was the worst version I`ve ever heard, Trey misses 2/3 of his notes, climaxes are nearly nonexistant. Camel Walk: weak vocals. Possum lacked excitement. Long Cool Woman I cannot rate, I have nothing to compare it to. Antelope was as weak as tweezer but not as weak as YEM. Fire was decent.
All in all, this show is not worth your money unless you were there, which I`m sure is worth it for sentimental value. If you want a good show to download, get the archived 10/31/90 Colorado College show. If you want a 2003 show, get the 7/9 Summer tour show or the Worcester Centrum Center winter tour show.

My first show since IT, and my first of two in this tour. I expected a great show, but got one of the most amazing I`ve ever seen. It RIPPED!! The band was pumped and it definately was evident in the way they played. Lots of phunky grooves and ambient, mind bending chaos. And then to have Jeff come out and tear up Camel Walk, absolutely NUTS. In my opinion, this show blew Boston away in terms of energy. I think the boys partied down a little too hard in albany after the show. No one misses a beat. It`s a killer show. Enjoy.

Well I`ve always been a big fan of Phish, but I never got the chance to go to a show, until Albany. Good choice for my first, and trust me it will not be the last. From the minute I heard the show start and the crowd roar, I knew this would be special. During the show I looked over at my friend Brenner and we both had a look of complete amazement. This is the best live concert I`ve ever heard or been to by far. Trey played probably the best I`ve ever heard. It blew me away. In one word, WOW!!
