8/15/2004 COVENTRY, Coventry, VT

Mike in Austin  (9/17/2009 12:19:04 PM)

Just listen to the first 15 seconds of Glide over there to the right. That sums up the night. Train wreck. Only one I ever saw. Thank goodness Trey is clean and sober and ripping it up. Phish (and Trey) are getting their groove back! Yee haw! But seriously. Don't buy this show. Save it for something else.

I've been reading a lot of reviews on this site lately...and I have to say that I am getting sick of everyone who says trey's a f*cking a-hole, this is the worst show ever, I want a refund, phish gipped us... yes maybe trey did snort a mountain of coke before both of these shows, but if your going to follow a band for 15 or 20+ years, drugs are undoubtedly going to be involved(ITS MUSIC!), and us phans are lucky that drugs only had a bad effect on the band for 1 or 2 years...we could have had it much worse... at least drugs didn't effect them for every single waking moment of their existence(see jerry, grateful dead). And even with the massive amount of whatever he was on, trey played his heart out in these jams. I admit some of the composed sections are tough to get through, but in listening to these jams i can feel the emotion running through the band. Even when the end (supposed end) was near, they never stopped inventing and improvising. I like these shows, and even though some may see it differently, i just wanted to give my good 2 cents.

btw, best SOAMelt ever

I was at this show...Not only was it one of the most amazing spectacles I have ever witnessed, but the whole band seemed to reflect over their illustrious career through emotional downpourings of musical adventures.
One of the highlights for me was when they passed the trampolines out into the crowd. Fans all around the venue took turns bouncing on the tramps just like Mike and Trey always did.
Welcome back guys!!!!!!

Mike down below me is completely right....the show wasnt as much about the music as it was about the emotions....think about it they had been together for over 20 years and they thought this would be the last time playing together none of you have any idea what a toll that would take with something like that weighing on your mind....this concert truely was epic

Although this show recieves flac from everyone saying that "this is is the worst Phish has ever played," there are some good moments in these sets that make it a great show. Listening to the Wading makes me even want to cry. The Mikes > Hydro > Groove was marginal and same with the DWD, Chalkdust, Reba, and Wolfman`s. The high point is that 30 minute Split Open and Melt, and that last Curtain was alright I guess. Although I would agree with the guy who said that "it was like watching your family dog die," any phan would look on this show as an emotional experience both watching and listening.

Barring any horrible accident or death or such, like Leroi Moore, they will have to change this "last Phish show" on the show notes to last hiatus (hopefully) & Trey can stop being fickle and hopefully never return to drugs which was the real cause he beated around the bush w/ when speaking w/ Charlie Rose. That`s not the real reason and that`s not the real reason. He couldn`t mention the real reason w/out facing trouble from wife and law.
But all things considered, I`d rather him be a recovering addict/fickle ahole and return than have this show be what goes down as their last time on stage.
They are too good for this hammed two day run. Worst festival by far and not just because of the mud and people turned away, myself included. I am glad I got my money back, and only wish captcha worked so I could be at Hampton. I was waiting counting the seconds till 10:00 am and was told after 15 minutes of holding my place in line that an error had occured, tried again, and they were sold out. Sold out in 10 minutes flat!
I so hope they bring back Fluffhead, If I Could, Tela, Esther, and countless others that dissapeared after the 1st hiatus. Take us PHeads back to gamehendge, the land of the evil King Wilson and captcha, the land of the evil Tickemaster :)

I don`t get all the bitching. This was one of the best purchases I`ve made on here and I`ve bought alotta music. You can hear some sick Phish jams and really feel the music, but that isn`t really what this show ended up being about. I`ve heard Wading in the Velvet Sea a million times, but I`ve never heard Page cry during it. It was worth $10 for that. Don`t buy it if you aren`t a real fan, and don`t review it.
