Providence 4/4/98 was a spectacular event! The crowd outside the Civic Center was as electric as any I've witnessed. It's as though something special was going to happen. You could feel the energy. We weren't disappointed.
First set was superb.Twzr open, Funky Bitch, LimbxLimb set the stage for a second set I'll never forget.
Birds /Feather was relatively new, then into a 2001 that people were waiting for. Almost like it was expected. The crowd got into a light stick war that rivals anything I've seen before. IT WAS OVER THE TOP!
Brother x2 set the stage for my favorite Lizards. Outstanding. It's just that simple, OUTSTANDING.
Bowie rounded off the second set and you could have called it a night but there was one more tasty nugget left for all of us.
Harry,Harry Harry HOOD finished the show in classic form.
It was years before I listened to 4/4/98 again. I realized immediately how great this show was.
Everyone has their favorite show, their fav. time and place. Listen to this one. I think you'll understand why this show stands out.
One last blurb. The entire Island Tour is legendary. It was an exciting time to be a fan of the most exciting band in the world.

Classic Phish right here, man...This show in particular set in my mind that when Phish is in the zone, they are one of the best live bands out there. They dropped the serious Funk. Love/Miss the old school sound of Ghost too...

Love this show was out to sea for 6 months and came home to this!!! Awsome!!! 98 might be my fav phish year my 76 grateful deaf

Birds>2001 is my favorite phish moment ever, just purposeful, tight jamming. Absolute must hear (over and over again!!!)

Flat out sick show. The island tour IMO is the peak of Phish's musicality. Sure there's been some great stuff before and after and Denver 11/17/97 Tweezer is still the most amazing piece of Phish improv ever, but the second set of this show comes damn close.
All I have to say is Birds-->2001.
Insane techno space funk the likes of which you have not heard before or after. Trey's riffing is simply off the charts on this one. WOW!

You can feel good, good, good about Hood!!
And you can feel good about Tweezer > Taste, Ghost > The Lizards, BOTR, BOAF > 2001 > Brother too!!
All in all, an awesome concert!!

Not sure what all the rave reviews are about. They definitly have a funky aspect to them this night see Tweezer. However, i feel like a lot of the songs never really get going or peaked. The Hood was average, Lizards was sloppy, Ghost never really took off. Tight playing but nothing special.
