Id like to elaborate more on this. It was a sublime concert but the recording (while it still good) doesnt show that. "Stash", "Possum", "Maze", and "The Divided Sky" where probably the best songs. "Theme", "Ghost", "Tube", "Haleys Comet" n "Gumbo" were also pretty good. the recording kinda deminished those songs, which is one of the draw backs of recording live shows. with the recording you didnt get to see the lights go nuts during Trey's solo on "Possum" when he was using vibrato like a mad man. or that lovely feeling of how "Haleys Comet" groved and at the end, it sounded and LOOKED like they were going back into "ghost". The first set kinda inconsitant in a way, jumpping a round sorta, going from "Kill Devi"l to "Mona". i almost felt "Stash" coming up after "Sample", it felt odd, but still nice. though, it flying into the divided sky after lengthwise was exciting then it kind lost its energy with Catus and Bold as Love. though second set was a power house, gettin everyone jumppin with Backwards. Ghost just set the mood and that almost peace of mind sense continued with "Fast Enough For You" then just blasting you into "Haleys Comet" which at the end felt like it was going to "Ghost", even the lights were looking similar to the lights during ghost then going to maze just blasting you again. then alaska was a pretty nice grove taking everyone out of their thoughts, making Theme almost unexpected. Golgi kind jumpped around, but Possum just slammed it home. Loving Cup, while it was really good, kinda in a way killed the mood. Reba, YEM, Run like an Antelope, David Bowie, or something that had that big bang at the end would have been amazing but we saw something amazing either way. Again, if you were there, you would agree with me that this recording sample doesnt do enough justice to that concert, but again, live recordings can only be so great.
Also i would want to smack who ever kept yelling Reba over and over again during the first set.

Backwards down the number line is gorgeously struck. and how about that Fast Enough for You...oooo...wow....King Trey!!! there is no doubt, the Band is back and back with utter fury...they are putting together some beautiful pieces...ooohwoo...
some come to make it just one more day..
|
The Ghost is magic...Trey brought it...moments of bliss...Backwards down the number line to proceed it...some nice licks in there too...that has a routine trey-like potential to it : ) still digesting what's been played thus far...beautiful gems all over...
let your life proceed by it's own design..

this Kill Devil Falls is one of the highlights of this tour thus far...
|
I just got back from Kill Devil Falls!!
what is all this complaining about the quality of the recordings? I think it's sounds great. The Band is here, for those of us who truely get it, we know the Band is back and in some regards better than before...the talent is beyond...it's a matter of putting it together...and they have been...there are moments of brilliance all throughout......and they're climbing...
for those of you complaining about the sound quality or that you can't hear mike's bass...what are you talking about?? lol it sounds delicious : )
if you're coming to hear mike's bass and that's the highlight for you, you're missing the picture...
it's everyone together, but it's Trey that puts the finishing touches on...and sometimes those works are so pure....and delicious...the timing between notes...the notes themselves...a gorgeous array of sound...the most beautiful and powerful themes and crescendos...
take it slow jimmy row
