it was my first phish show and my face was melted off. i think a lot of people are really losing sight on just how much phish rocks. they are truly on another level than most bands today. the accoustics of the fox added to that. the fox in general added to everything and made it that much more magical but that night i was on a truly magical ride. it was shocking and is shocking to me to see how much negativity there was around and how much negativity is in some of these reviews. cmon people take it for what it is and be awed by the talent that every member of phish has. be awed by how treys guitar weeps in so many different fashions. positivity and merriment will boost the band not criticism. what a show though, ill never forget how my jaw was dropped for so long

Willb i saw my first concert this summer tour to and i wanted to just agree with you! They are great, i cought the Jones Beach gig and i am currently trying to figure out a way to go again in august. I was also blow away by their live stuff and since the concert i can't go back to listening to studio versions and looking at it the same way. I feel welcomed into the world of phish and phanhood!
p.s.. looks like a great show fellas, keep up the good work!

My Phirst!! I first got into phish during the "break-up", so I have been waiting for this show for four or five years. Just seeing the boys in the flesh was good enough for me, but this show was truly a face melter. When I heard of the reunion tour I thought " no way they are coming to st. louis", not only did they come to stl but The FOX?! The best venue they could chose. Unfortunatley I had to pay way above face value for my ticket, but worth every cent. I hadnt heard any of the new stuff before this but they really got things started off right with the way they got down on Ocelot and Kill devil falls. TTE in the second set was probably the low point of the show for me. So many changes it makes hard to get into but, fish is a beast on that song. There were some nice surprises however like Brian and robert, horn, sleep, frankie sez. Possum, Slave, Halleys comet, Mikes groove, and Runaway Jim were outta this world. The guitar work trey layed down in possum reminded me of why i love this band so much. Reba and rift were a little lacking (no whistling?!?!) but like i said this was my first show and was simply ecstatic just to hear these songs in person. The crowd was great, really going back and forth with the energy the band was puttin out there. My seat was right in the middle of the balcony and the sound quality was impecible. The lights were great as well. For a second i thought there was gonna be no acapella performance but that encore...wow. The star spangled banner was a little surprising but thourgholy enjoyed it, and Mcgrupp...wtf where did that come from. My only beef was that I was hoping for Johnny B. Goode as an encore what with it being Saint Louis and all but really I couldnt have asked for a better Phirst Phish show. Thank You Fish,Trey, Mike, and Page.

Truly a magical night. Great show, great venue, coolio city. Who could ask for more? The criticisms are unfounded and I suppose those that are ultra critical are pretty annoying to be around anyway. It is live music...enjoy it.

WOW people... Reeellllly. Listening to the first set now and musically, holy crap just look at the setlist- brian & robert, sample, rift, ya mar, and that reba.. that jam is just sick, trey and page are reminiscent of the mid-late 90's. the boys are back!! :) if your bent on the "crowd" or the "scene" you're not listening to the music, and after all isn't that what it's all about?
-to the new fans, come on it the waters just gettin warm

Tom i can't help but feel like your post was directed toward me. I'm just curious if you read my first post? Well if you didn't it's pretty similar to what you had to say about the guys not being gods and to just enjoy the moment. The reason i used the phrase "sub par" was because although both shows i was referring to (JB 6/2 and 6/4) were fun shows, they were far from great musically, and there were obvious mistakes. But you know what? i dunno if you were there, the whole crowd laughed off those mistakes and kept gettin' down and it was a great night. All i was saying was the despite the fact that the shows were not musically perfect, i had an awesome experience anyway. i was originally defending myself against some self righteous headier than thou phish fans, for me calling those shows awesome because I had a great time at two very average shows, which happen to have been my first shows.
and i will retract my statement about their jamming on 6/4, that Drowned > Jones Beach Jam > Meatstick was the shit!!! Although previous to that (i.e. Hampton and Fenway) they weren't wowing me with their jams, and even sounded sloppy a times , but they have certainly picked it up over the course of the tour and they sound great. Love the guys and really hope to get tix to Saratoga. LONG LIVE PHISH!!!!!
