Excellent show and excellent recording. The campground down the road however was a real catastrophe

this was the first of a four night run for me, and phish kicked off my vacation with a bang. they treated me to just what i was looking for, a mostly old school setlist to enjoy before digesting all the new songs.

golgi and chalkdust got the crowd gassed, but they didn't cut loose until wolfman's brother. divided was played well, but i think the alpine version was stronger. heavy things took me back to late99/2000 when it felt like i heard this song at every other show. actually, it probably felt that way because i was. after heavy things, walk away was almost shocking. it came out of no where. good stuff, good placement. the alaska-bowie combo was well executed.

the ol' standard DwD 2nd set opener was nice. it didn't go too far before giving way to a good rocking free. guyute, in my opinion, was the best played song of the night. they really nailed it. there was a time when i was getting a little sick of seeing this song so much, but hey, i hadn't seen phish in five years. piper did its thing before giving way to circus. both were played well, and piper had some good exploratory moments. they then tore the roof off the place with an excellent hood. they really stretched the middle section out. i thought they were calling it an early night with coil, but i was proven wrong with a nice long yem and a "four song encore." i am really digging grind. also, i was happy to fishman belt one out. it's not the first time he forgot some words. loving cup was pretty standard.

this was a good solid show. everything was played well, and of course, it was great to see the guys rocking again.

I was not at the show but i wish i was. I'm glad i dwnld this show. I'm by no means a phish historian but there is some parts of this show where i see a different kinda a style coming from Trey. Especially in the song Free. The guitar part in that song seemed very hard edged but tight and clean, almost like a hardcore or hard rock guitar part but definitely in style only Trey can produce. With power chords and awesome rifts. Don't get me wrong i like the Gyute style of happy playing but the the" Im a baddass with a guitar and i want to play it hardcore" style is way better. Can't really explain it but if you listen to it you might understand what im saying. Great Show and worth every penny.

Historically, The Phizz have brought serious heat for the Pittsburgh Crowd at Starlake, and 6/18/09 was no exception. Reference 8/11/98 and 7/29/03. The raw cow funk, pure energy and heady lights were continuously orgasmic...for a lack of a better phrase.

Highlights included: Chalk, Wolfman's, Heavy Things, Walk Away, Tube...(II) DWD, Free, SHIT the entire second set was ELECTRIC. Notably Page's Coil solo (reminiscent of A Live One-disc 1...recorded in Pittsburgh during fall tour 94.) Page and Trey were really ON all night...Air Gordon and Fish are always on. Be sure to check out Piper, Hood, YEM and Loving Cup.

The setlist was not full of uber-rare tunes like Trenchtown or Harpua...however they played a Greatest Hits-ish show and blew the roof off.

I'm bringing several diapers when I catch the band later this summer.

Oh yeha, Trey tears up Alaska at the end..

Highly recommended

First show in 10 years! Thank you for the Golgi. That was appropriate reunion for me. I am a teacher so I think Chalk Dust TORTURE is the best thing since the invent of the vacuum solo. OK my review. I was having a good time then Harry Hood. WTF!!! Some thing lifted and I was home. I road the show to YEM and was surrounded by people at their first show. I said get ready. Then I danced like I had not danced since Mama Dance at Oswego NY 99. Oh So We Go To Oswego.

PS John you are a funny funny man. Thanks for the Hello mess up Trey. Peace from the Okie
