Most underrated show of Part II of tour  (10/7/2009 10:28:36 AM)

This is an absolutely incredible show. I think a lot of us were collectively blown away by the Red Rocks experience, and went into Shoreline expecting anything. We were treated to what I consider to be the sleeper show of the entire summer tour. Like SPAC and Hartford, the guys built the 2nd set of this show into a 3 section masterpiece, with the standalone tune being an absolutely gorgeous cover of Oh Sweet Nuthin. Backwards>DwD>Limb is extremely strong and creative, with the Disease jam being one of the best jams of the summer. Cities>Maze was a real treat, and we finally got the Simple we'd been waiting for with the Mike's>Simple>Weekapaug comprising the 3rd section of the set. Whether the guys are intentionally doing this or not, the strongest shows of the summer seem to have 'sectional' 2nd sets(Hartford, Gorge nite 2, SPAC, Red Rocks nite 4), giving them tons of room for bustouts, extended jams, and creative setlists. Great first set, nice mix of new tunes with classics, so if you haven't had the pleasure of listening to this show yet, do yourself a favor and GET IT!

That's funny that my excitement makes you think so. Not a lot of though put into my reviews, mostly just reactionary. But I'm no noob, and I'm loving the scene this summer! Started out in 95, never saw as many shows as I would have liked, but I kept coming back, and I saw enough to know what's going on... And to recognize those, myself included at times, who don't know what's going on.

the flybys were incredible and things were flowing smooth
a little velvet in there made for a great time

down with disease completely blew my mind... they get so down during the whole freakin song its so sick... but david bowie and cities raged it so hard too... and theres oh sweet nuthin better then seeing it live.
