8/8/2009 The Gorge, George, WA

Antelope was great. Rock and Roll was lengthy, and Trey had a nice little run around the 9 minute mark that I always turn way up. I also don't think I'll ever find a bad Wedge. Love that song, and I was so pumped when I got to hear it at Noblesville for my first show.

I really feel that Middle of the Road is one of Mike Gordon's and Phish's finest offerings to date. Sounds alot like classic Allman Brothers stuff. LOT'S OF JAM POTENTIAL HERE GUYS!

"Walking in all I wanted was a mango...I got it, you know what it was sweet but leaving with that Rock and Roll Song couldn't have been dreamed". Wow

Such a great weekend. Crowd was full of so many nice people. Seemed to be very chill security at the Gorge in comparison to past years and ESPECIALLY in comparison to the East Coast venues. Gross.

About to download the show. I'm sure I heard a Piper tease--almost obtrusively--during the R&R jam and have to find out. Curious about these Scarlet>Fire teases too. (Man, it's gonna be hard to miss Indio...)

I have to agree with the vast majority of the reviews here. Just a phenomenal weekend. From the shows, to the music and the phans in attendance, EVERYTHING fell into place in the headiest of ways. I was completely moved by the experience, all weekend long. Each set both nights were packed with well played, high energy, great sounding music. I have to agree with Joe Messer: The phans at the Gorge this weekend were among the most beautiful and wonderful I have met, and I've been following this band since 1995. Like Joe, I have to thank EVERYONE who was there. Hope EVERYONE who participated at the Gorge is present for Halloween. Jah Bless All!

Mike
