This Harry Hood is my all-time favorite version. I often make compilation discs for newbies to check out the band, and since last year I always include this Harry as the closer of the disc. It's absolutely beautiful.

Whoa..Unreal! ok hold on while i take a cold shower...this first set is one of the best ever in my opinion. the Mikes-> Hydrogen-> Weekapaug opener?? are you serious! the Mikes is ferocious and smashes you immediately over the head with an explosion of energy, then crunches, crashes, bashes and smashes it's way along with perfect synergy between the players, tears your face off and then very skillfully, with the soft hands of a nurse begins pushing down the plunger, injecting you with the pre-Hydrogen heavy hypnotic-segue-sedative, the notes intertwining and wrapping themselves around you like angel's wings, carrying you on a cloud through Hydrogen, then fully waking you from the sedative with the suddeness of a hypnotist snapping his fingers and your getting in the groove, those wings open and you're dropped from that hypnotic cloud into a free-fall, spinning and tumbling, heart-pounding exhilaration lasting all the way through a visciously executed-blinding-sunshine Weekapaug.
Harry. from the very beginning you know this is gonna be epic. listen: hear the grenade thrown bass funk, the bass-rigged mind funk, the creeping-like-a-cat-burglar funk, the spaced-out intro/opening to follow, taking it's space time like mushrooming foreplay, like UFO beams melodies, arcade-game-sized-"Pong"-FUZZ-sounds. then the chairman at the controls, dropping deliberately hokey, spooky-cheap-ticket-halloween-ride-creaky-coffins-openinning-to-skeletons-themed chords, and then...Harry, Harry...and we're on our way to what in my opinion (after 50+ live shows, tapes to cds to downloads) is the best Hood i've ever heard. no joke and it seques so marvelously into...
Train Song, a perfect choice/perfectly placed in the set, then a deeply loving/soulfull Billy Breathes. Frankenstein follows as you're turned into a colored pencil stick-figure getting flattened by a cartoon safe from 50 floors up. Izabella rips. and this is where i say goodnight moon, and catch a ride on a 26 minute Halley's Comet to the next show as the rest of this night is pure magic.

I went to both of these Hampton shows, and I love listening to them now ... the Halley's sounds like they're going to segue into "The Wheel" (ha), and then it enters Zappa territory on its way back down. Incredible.

Oops, I meant Summer '11, not Summer '12. I'm getting ahead of myself here.

Dear Fall Tour = Best Ever,
While I think you and I share a preference for the Fall '97 tour, I have to take issue with one of your comments . You can't say that only "real" fans think Fall '97 is the best because whether a particular tour is the best is all about individual preference. I prefer Fall '97 because it had the largest concentration of my favorite performances. I'm sure there are many people out there who prefer Summer '12 for the very same reason: simply because the sounds that had come out of that tour are their favorite.
I see a lot of people passing judgement on this forum. It's pretty unfortunate. Phish is great, they make me happy and excited. Comments like yours and so many others don't make me happy.
Anyway, enjoy the Hampton shows.

After all my release wishes have been fulfilled so far (11/14/95, 12/01/95, 12/29/97, 12/30/97, 11/22/97) there are not too many left anymore. But let's only make two more for now: 09/14/99, 07/25/97.

So now that the Hampton/W-S shows have been released along with this gem, can we just be honest with ourselves? Fall 1997 was the best tour Phish EVER did.......Salt Lake, Denver(this night), Champaign, Hampton (both nights), W-S, Hartford, Cleveland, Auburn Hills, Dayton, Albany (both nights). WOW These are all-time classics. For me Champaign, Hampton (night 2) and Dayton take the cake. Not to bash the current offerings from Phish (2009-2011 are cookie cutter tours) but this is what true fans want to see and hear.
For me, I've listed the 5 best jams of this tour:
1. Haley's-Hampton 2. Tweezer-Auburn Hills 3. 2001>Wofman's-Champaign 4. Gin-Winston-Salem 5. Tube>Jam-Dayton
LivePhish -Thanks for following up on the requests on this site.
