   A Seriois Review Of June 29th  (12/26/2012 10:02:32 PM)

@ABoyNamedCrow, your rant is forgiven, I too have mad love for this band. They are 95% of all music I listen to...but I have listened to the show several times since and I don't regret my opinions. Trey fouled up the lyrics more than once and got out of sync with Mike Paige and Jon several times. And going off of all of the spectacular shows I have in my library, I'd say they did not give US everything they had. At times it seemed like they were tired and just wanted to get it over. Were you there? I mean energy wise it was a fun night for sure..but musicly, it left much to be desired.

I drove solo all the way from CO for DC and AV, this was my favorite show of the weekend and first listen back on home turf and I couldn't stop smiling and jamming at home by myself. this show not only knocked so many songs off my list but i feel encompassed everything phish has to offer from great jamming to bust outs to stage antics / humor to covers I don't know where to begin or end (go to the .net boards and find a stream about the CO wildfires that were happening during these shows which actually tells the story about how the mango song got played) other than that though if u don't have the code or access to a DL I beg of you listen to this show if you want to further your enjoyment of whom I consider to be the greatest group making music today.

This show was a GEM! I heard "Life on Mars" at the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco, and when they sound checked it in Indy, I was psyched. Great show, even better than the Thursday. I had a blast at both.

This show was awesome! They played all of their magnificent songs perfectly. Great covers as well in Sweet Jane and Life on Mars in the first set. The extended intro to Possum is powerful stuff and really lets Fishman, Page, and Mike's rhythmic talents burst forth and take center stage. Limb By Limb was cascading. Love the tight, clean sound on The Mango Song. Trey's guitar playing invoked David Gilmour, Comfortably Numb-esque tone a bit on While My Guitar Gently Weeps (off course with Trey's own signature).

Down With Disease was climactic explosions out of smooth grooves. Sand was one of the highlights of the show. The band bounced from funk grooves to Sand theme and back, each time with a variation on the last part. They were really on the same page. This isn't exactly the same as the old free form jam style. It does seem a little more directional. I think there is a lot of on stage communication and eye contact going on right now, more than their used to be. They are keying in on each other and making more sudden and synchronized changes in the music, rather than that slow bubbling, gradually changing jams. Bathtub Gin was another highlight and basically followed the same model, with great interplay between the 'jam' sections and the sections where they get closer to the actual theme of the song (with really cool variations on the theme).

Rift was executed beautifully. That is a song execution of the song itself is what you listen for and, at least for me, gets my juices flowing.

Fluffhead was probably the hypest part of the entire show at the end during the shouts of "Fluffhead." Everyone was going nuts, throwing their hands in the air. During the long composed middle section they had a little more variation than usual. Very funky. Overall I think this show and in general they have had a very funky jamming style. Similar to '97. Ride Captain Ride was awesome too. I heard someone call Antelope "standard," but there is nothing really standard about it. It is a throw down, no doubt. Loved the 3 song encore, with a standout Sanity that gets wierd. They can end a show on First Tube anytime they want as far as I am concerned.

Great Show both for attending and downloading! Happy phan here! Had a great time on the whole DC/AV run!

I woke up sooo excited for this show. I was at the show the night before and knew they were playing well because that show kicked a whole lot of ass!! Not only was I excited because of all of that but, this was the day that I finally got to bring my looooong time girlfriend(of 9 years) to her first phish show.
First of all, she was really worried about the heat and that weighed most on her mind. Untill, randomly a storm that the local news said wouldn’t even hit us...hit us. In fact it was a SUPER high wind storms that essentially blew all the hot air out of the area for the night. It was amazing!! It went from 99 degrees to about 83 degrees in about a half an hour. Heat was no longer an issue!! Her only other issue was that she thought she might not know any songs. I assured her that after having spent 9 years with me she probably knew a lot more than she thought she knew.
We arrived on the lawn about a half an hour before the show and laid down the jerry blanket and commenced to chillin...
The band came out and jumped right into a well played Crowd Control! After that came Dinner and a Movie. A truely solid version of this song is about the time I notice my girlfriend totally rocking out. This continues all the way through to the beginning of Possum. Now this was a song she REALLY wanted to see. This is when I notice her grinning ear to ear. Next song is Mound and that’s when I notice myself grinning ear to ear LOL!!! Love that tune. The next really funny thing that I remember happening was my girlfriend making her way back to our lawn spot from the bathroom during BBFCFM. The most ragingest part of the show was the only few minutes we weren’t together. She said making her way down the lawn past all the raging, thrashing, jumping, arms, legs, and moving bodies in general was like being the running back in a football game. Duck and Move Baby!
Needless to say she knew lots of songs and we danced our asses off all night. After the show she said it was her FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERENCE EVER!! and she has seen a lot of different bands (the Dead 03 and 04, KW, Clapton, DMB, Ben Harper, and the backstreet boys). I was so excited! I reminded her of a time many years ago when I was listening to some live phish song that had the high pitched siren in it and she said to turn it off. My reaction to that was to tell her If she went to a show she might "get it". She said she "would never get that". When I reminded her of this story she laughed and corrected me and herself. She said "No, I TOTALLY get it"!!
Music was played great through the whole show except for sort of awkward moment between Bathtub and Fluff. But, other than that all was crisp!! Thank you so much for a great weekend and for giving everyone the best concert experience in the world!!

This was one of my all-time favorite shows, purely for its creativity, joy and soul. The boys were having so much fun and that makes fun for us. I even loved Big, Black Furry Creatures from Mars which sometimes is too intense for me,but it worked tonight and put a huge smile on my face. Loved The Mango song and Sweet Jane. Phish is at their best right now, so do not miss a chance to go see them LIVE. All the songs in the Twist-ed second set were genius. The alchemy of all the changes and styles in the music blended into gold. I was completely ill by the middle of the second set (I think due to over-exhaustion from the first set), but the boys kept making me dance (which was impressive because I was feeling quite ill). How could I not dance and be completely happy when Ride, Captain, Ride was played. Not only does Phish know how to play their instruments at the highest level, but they can choose a mood or song so correctly. Then the Sanity at the end just put the cherry on top. Trey was in rare form and his elation pervasive. Dance, Trey, Dance! All my friends walked out of there agreeing that this was definately a top show. Thanks again boys for another memorable night! I don't know where this dancer would find live music to allow her soul to be free if it weren't for my troubadors.
