"Phish Evolve, fitting title, Phish has definitely evolved drastically since the different periods, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, and now 4.0. This is a high water mark in their recorded album history, a very cohesive, mature recording. Some songs were released on other albums by Trey solo or with Page McConnell. I think they found their proper home and were given the proper studio treatment. Evolve and Oblivion are two really decent tunes that go together well. A Wave of Hope is one of my favorite songs from this album, so called “recovery rock” done well. The chorus of “This too shall pass, this too shall pass” is very relatable if you’re a fan of this band. Pillow Jets and Life Saving Gun are standout songs and welcome additions to the middle of a setlist to kick off deep, exploratory jams. The slower songs have grown on me, especially Hey Stranger, Monsters and Lonely Trip. Mike Gordon’s Human Nature fits well into the album theme of songs about modern day reality, isolation and things coming to an end. This review is after much time with the album on vinyl and many spins. It’s best taken in in its entirety, it is more focused on words, songs and meaning rather than music and composition, which is by no means a bad thing, just different. "

"One of the more cohesive studio releases and arguably their best since Farmhouse. Fave songs are Pillow Jets, Oblivion "
