"I just had a blast making this record,” says Page McConnell about his debut solo album, which, quite appropriately, bears his name as its title. "I had so much fun just writing songs with no agenda. It was a very pure and satisfying feeling."
That feeling comes through loud and clear in Page McConnell’s songs. At the center of its sound are McConnell’s distinctive keyboards and honest, unaffected vocals. But this is an album of musicians playing together in effortless, energetic conversation – a conversation enhanced by plainspoken poetry of McConnell’s lyrics, which are honest, straight-forward and heartfelt, as if he were speaking one-on-one with a friend.
His buddies from Phish – guitarist Trey Anastasio, bassist Mike Gordon and drummer Jon Fishman – all make appearances, as does guitarist Adam Zimmon (who has played with Shakira and the Spam Allstars, a band that collaborated with McConnell’s side project, Vida Blue); Jared Slomoff, who engineered the album and also played guitar, and legendary drummer Jim Keltner (who has played with Bob Dylan, John Lennon, George Harrison, Elvis Costello, Cassandra Wilson, Steely Dan and many more).
Bonus songs are from the appearance of Page's touring band at House of Blues, West Hollywood, CA on 7/7/07. The band featured PAGE MCCONNELL (keyboards), JARED SLOMOFF (vocals, guitar, Rhodes), ADAM ZIMMON (guitar), ROB O'DEA (bass), GABE JARRETT (drums).

"This album is fantastic! Loved it immediately when it came out and it’s still a heavy part of my rotation. It will be glorious when Phish finally plays Back in the Basement. Thank you, Page "

"Arguably the best Phish solo album."

" Really interesting to see so few comments from such a great album. Do not sleep on this album. It's psychedelic, funky, electronic, ballady, well, uh, it's eclectic just like our beloved Phish. This is the first time Page is stepping out and you can really see his influence and how he was influenced by our band. This is one of those albums that gets better and better with each listen as it is so intricate. "Maid Marian" has mass appeal, and that's not a bad thing. Would have love to see Phish stretch out this ballad. "Beauty of a Broken Heart" made it to the Phish catalog and one of the most promising and straight up best new Phish songs of 2010 is a page penned "Halfway to the Moon". No doubt that song could have fit right on this album nicely. Really wish the recordings from the tour behind this album were more readily available as I saw Phillly TLA show and want to relive it and just can't. The covers were fantastic, but his actual music from what turned out to be Phish Hiatus # 2 (fall of 2004-winter 2009). Highly Recommended and under the radar. Page is what makes Phish classy. Thank You Page"

""Rules I Don't Know" is one of the finest songs I've heard in a while. Oh yeah, the rest of the album is great too. It's an enjoyable listen with that laid back siger/songwriter vibe that I personally love."
