"I remember at the time these shows people weren’t too happy with these shows but I thought these were awesome and 10 years later, listening back to them they crush it. This night was not too heavy on the jams"

"Whale call"

"Awsum review woodwar? Can't read rest of your name from the livephish app sorry. I love seeing older phans that don't tend toward loving everything the band does automatically, still show some respect for what the band is doing now and has been since about 2010 after shoring up the rust and getting their song chops back in 2009. Which is to say that we are witnessing another whole set of mini phish eras just like we did in the 90's where each year was unique to itself and all building and changing continuing to stretch and Improve some things and abandoning others. I truly agree that we are witnessing peaks that will go down in phishstory for sure and the internet trolls be damned I believe most real phans feel that way cuz I'm one and I know many and most of us are older phans and we love what we are hearing. Side note: Btw the whale call is the same pitch bending tool trey has used his whole career (and which he is basically the most unique and creative out there in its use) only used in a newly innovative way. It's called a whammy pedal. Mimics what you can do with a whammy bar which his guitar does not have. But it allows diff stuff beyond what a bar can do. But he is really the most creative "effects controller " amongst guitarists since like hendrix, beck and Brian eno to me. And he does the stuff eno does in the studio-only in a live format! But he has been doing unique stuff with it forever...however a couple points. Check out The IT festival soundcheck and Tower Jam as well the unique guitar sound in vultures from all of 2003 really but particularly that weekend at IT for examples of some of Treys earlier extremely unique whammy pedal pitch modulation. Your really right for having mentioned miles davis cuz what he's doing in the it soundcheck and tower jam at the time were literally completely new ways of playing he instrument that had never been done before. And trey has built on some of those motifs to the point of the whale call where he is basically for lack of better terms bending notes both up and in and down and out and vice Versa if you can thing of Each note as having a possible vertical and lateral direction it can go in at the same time kind of like an x/y axis. And trey basically crafts solos bending notes up and out drown and in etc while still staying melodic and within mode, key and phrasing lines etc. Plus that's just one of his myriad of textures and sounds so he's just nuts basically. People don't have a freakibg clue how hard it is to set and keep track of MEANINGFUL AND AtCUALLY MUSICAL SOUNDING loops and then to control and keep track of them and Continue to weave more of a jam beyond that....all in real time in front of a crowd! It's a crazy skill. Way way harder than the fastest scale trey has ever played. I'm a decent guitarist and I bought a looping unit awhile back and even after a decent amount of practice I find it extremely difficult to set and maintain even one or two decent sounding loops that don't end up sounding like some horribly repeating out of rhythm child's attempt at recording yourself. It's just not as easy he makes it look is the point. Someday like many artists, once he's gone people will recognize treys contribution to guitar as singularly unique and one of the only truly genuinely signature unique sounds out there where there really isn't anyone else who sounds like him. Hendrix, garcia, beck, santana, page, duane allman, bb king, trey anastasio...really it's gonna read like that someday so enjoy it while it's here. And obviously many others. Id put kimock, herring and scofield and Derek trucks up there too along with many more but whatever. Anyway sorry so long just saying nice review and it's refreshing to hear a perspective like yours. Peace. "

"This was my first time in the pit ever. It was the most magical experience I've ever had at a phish show. This was my 48th since '99. These were pretty much all of my favorite songs, and I thought that they all were played outstandingly well (I have like a hundred favorite songs but these were in the top twenty percent). It was the greatest. I will never forget it. Thank you so much Phish!"
