"Hey all. This show was real nice. Very happy, especially with the quality of these recordings. At the show itself there was an issue with the house sound if you were deep under the overhang of the balcony in he loge area. The keys were almost non-existent at times unless Ray was soloing on the Hammond (or whatever organ he uses) but a lot of his awsum funky Rhodes work and piano fills were missing from the mix which makes it all that more amazing that the show was still wickid hot! But on the recording you can clearly hear each instrument and it's so nice to hear rays funky wah-laden boards works here. Between the two boston shows this one seemed to have the weaker setlist but I can safely say that both shows are really good. Trey got heated a number of times even though at first glance there aren't a lot of long stretched out songs. And although I like myself some long jams I was ok with it. I just love the deep down dirty groove of this band. Def plenty of analogies to be made between the diff of phish vs TAB and the difference between the dead and JGB back in the day. But anyway That meaty thick in the pocket bassline Tony lays down is just fantastic(just like I've always felt about john Kahn in JGB lol). Highlights for me were Alive again, Mozambique, night speaks (albeit short version), small axe was a nice treat, I like traveler although again super short version. But last tube was fun, nice plasma and basically plasma thru push on till' the day was all pretty inspired. Hot as hell black dog had everyone raging. Went with a friend who isn't (yet) a phish fan and this was his first TAB or trey experience but he's a huge guitar guy and just general music fan and he loves zeppelin and he was impressed throughout the show but I think the black dog really sold it for him. He's hooked. Now after basically refusing to ever go to a phish show he says he's willing to give it a try next time they are around. So let's get some late winter phish tour in New England! How bout that? Maybe early spring? Lol. Anyway highly recommend a listen. Thanks trey and thanks to whoever mastered these recordings they are a real nice matrix. Love the crispness and balance. Very much on point. Peace all"
